This page is a resource for two courses I am currently teaching at Austin Community College. I am also teaching MUSC 1333 – Synthesis I. If you are interested in these courses and have any questions, please feel free to email me.
MUSC 1371 – Introduction to Modular Synthesis
This course examines introductory concepts of modular synthesis and visual programming (i.e.: Reaktor, Max/MSP). Students will learn how to use various software to build custom instruments (subtractive synths, sequencers, and basic audio effects), as well as receive an introduction to object-oriented programming using the open source language ChucK. Additional concepts include granular synthesis, sampling, and basic signal processing, as well as an introduction into generative and probability-based electronic composition.
